Umpire College

What it's about:

The Flames Umpiring College is a collective of like minded young and developing umpires under the guidance of mentors and umpire coaches from the various clubs in the Zone. Established in the summer of 2013, the College has three guiding principles:

  • To attract new umpires to the sport from within the Zone

  • To educate umpires and develop the standard of umpiring across all levels of hockey in the Zone

  • To foster a community of open engagement and interaction between umpires within the Zone

Beyond these pillars of the College, the Zone is also committed to furthering the broader awareness and understanding of umpiring amongst parents and players within the Zone. To this end we will continue to offer periodic information sessions, open Q&A nights and rules based seminars throughout both the winter and summer seasons.
